Obituary of MARIO ESQUENAZI
Mario (Sam) Esquenazi was born in Havana, Cuba in 1936. He was the son of Israel and Matilde. He grew up with four siblings Morris, Roberto Suzette, and Berta. Mario made the long journey with his family to the United States as a six year old child, in the dead of winter.
Mario attended Thomas Jefferson High School in Brooklyn, New York, where he was a star halfback on the football team, and aspired to be a journalist. He met Sheila Perskin when he was 18 and they were married a year later. Of that union, they had three children, Michael, Michelle, and Craig.
Mario was very proud in succeeding as a shoe salesman, and always taking his wife & children on beautiful family vacations. He was a doting grandfather to Shayna, Ilana, Michael, Emily and Mariah.
Mario was a veteran of the United States Army, and always loved singing to an audience.
We will miss our father and his unique brand of sarcasm and humor but most importantly the kind and gentle person that he was.
