Sam and I shared something more than last names. At Thomas Jefferson H.S. we both were on the school paper, The Liberty Bell, and interested in journalism (I wound up at The New York Times). He was just a regular guy and I'm sorry we didn't keep up with each other as adults. But I still have my memories of our talks together, as well as Sam running for big yardage in the annual game against Tilden.
