I had the great pleasure of knowing Henry as a colleague at Colgate as well as a mentor and friend. After we left Colgate, Henry, Mike McGreal, Kathy Lally and I would meet each year at the Colgate Stockholder Meeting. I looked forward every year to our visit with each other. We would sit through the meeting, pick up our gift bag and then go to Junior's Restaurant for lunch. I remember him in his trench coat and hat (it was a great hat and he looked great in it.) I truly cherished this special day. Henry was always so kind and interested in the happenings over the past year. We caught up on jobs and kids and grandkids. He was so proud of his family and he showed such great joy being a grandfather. Henry was an amazing person...smart, kind, generous sharing his wisdom and guidance. I spent many times over the years at Colgate chatting in his office, asking his advise on patent rules but mostly just chatting about life. When my husband died leaving me with a teenage son, his wisdom and guidance on how to deal with the challenges of raising a son was wise and invaluable. We move through life meeting many people but one of the gifts in my life was having the honor and privilege to have known Henry and call him my friend.
My deepest sympathy to his family at this sad time but I know he is at peace with God and hope that brings you comfort.
I loved him very much and cherished knowing him.
