Obituary of SAUL KAPLAN

Saul Kaplan Saul Kaplan, 92, passed away on Saturday, August 8th, at RWJ Hospital, with his devoted children at his side. Mr. Kaplan was born in Linden, N.J. to the late Sadie (Rosenblum) and Morris Kaplan. He grew up in Linden and played football for Linden High School. He earned a scholarship to Rutgers University to play football, which he did his freshman year. He was in the Navy and served on the SS Flying Fish. He worked for M. Gordon Construction Co. for 20 years before starting his own masonry business contracting business, Cap-Con, Inc. He married the love of his life, Eileen Joy Witzburg, and they moved to Edison, where they raised their family. After the death of his wife, he moved to Monroe Township. He was predeceased by his wife, Eileen Joy, his siblings, Sylvia Korfin, Oscar and Milton Kaplan and sister-in-law, Norma Marut. He is survived by his daughters, Eleanor Kaplan Nebbia (Ron), Cheryl Israel (Phil), and son Alan Kaplan (Lisa), sister, Rhoda LaVine, brother-in-law, George Marut, grandchildren Stephanie Clabby (Ryan), Jason Israel, Sharon Anton (Kevin), Jaclyn Nebbia, Laura Nebbia, Eric Kaplan (Jenny), Austin Kaplan, Brooke Kaplan and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, August 11th at Goldstein Funeral Chapel, 2015 Woodbridge Ave., Edison, at 10 a.m. followed by burial at Beth Israel Cemetery in Woodbridge. Due to Covid 19, attendance at the chapel is limited to immediate family, however, you can join us virtually. Graveside services at the cemetery with proper distancing and face masks are allowed. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society (cancer.org), Paralyzed Veterans of America (pov.org) or National Ovarian Cancer Coalition (ovarian.org) would be appreciated in his memory.
