I have much trouble taking this in. I was Doreen’s brother Harold’s good friend during our youth. Doreen was always so very nice to me as was the entire family, Their home was my second home. I spent as much time with the Weiss family as I did with my own.

Rest in peace, Doreen. To her Mom, Vivian, brothers, Harold and Alan and their families, including Doreen’s family… please accept Michelle and my very deepest condolences. Know that this truly was painful to discover. Though we cannot be there in person, our hearts and prayers are with you.

I will not forget how happy and energetic Doreen was to participate on the day she spoke to the Yale medical students. She also really dressed up that day and looked great. She powered through her pain and physical limitations. She shared so much wisdom and left them with so many lessons, poetry included. She was in her element. That was a small part of her legacy to us.

My sister was my "big" sister, she called me her "baby Brother", but I would sometimes refer to her as my "baby sister" Rest in peace Sis, you were an amazing women and fighter.
