Obituary of DALIAH RUTH LESLIE
We are heartbroken to announce that Daliah Ruth Leslie passed away on Saturday, October 21, 2023. She was 34.
Born and raised in Highland Park, New Jersey, Daliah’s wit and intelligence brightened the lives of all her family and friends. Everyone she met remarked on how funny, smart and loving she was.
Daliah loved the arts. She particularly loved talking about film. New and old films and TV shows, the history of film and TV, and the craft of writing for film and TV were interests she loved sharing with people. She was incredibly knowledgeable about these topics, and always liked discussing the pros and cons of a particular work.
Daliah was a writer. She originated and wrote The Hollywood Medical Reporter, a blog that reviewed films with an eye toward how accurately or inaccurately they handled medical information. While attending Hampshire College, she met a renowned historian, Joseph Ellis, who selected her to write a treatment for a movie based on a chapter of his award-winning book, Founding Brothers.
She also was also a social media consultant for several outlets, including a magnet school in Manhattan that specialized in Chinese language arts.
But most of all, Daliah was a loving and caring daughter, sister, aunt and friend. When you were someone she cared about, there was never any doubt about her love and devotion to you. She viewed the world with a unique eye that found surprising truths and funny observations.
She is survived by her parents, Joyce and Gary Leslie, her brother Adam, her sister Rachel, her brother-in-law Itai Cohen, her niece Noga and her nephews Gev and Niv. We will never be the same now that she is gone. We will always love her and miss her. We pray that she is at peace.
