Obituary of HELENE RUTH SIEGEL
Helene Goldstein Siegel passed away on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at the age of 93. Born and raised in Elizabeth, she raised her family and lived in Scotch Plains for 60 years before moving to New Providence in 2018. In her later years, Helene was a “snow bird” and spent many winter months enjoying the milder weather of Boynton Beach, FL.
Helene was an avid tennis player and lived to travel the world and attend cultural activities. Attending theater or visiting an art museum
followed by fine dining in New York City were her favorite activities. She read her New York Times daily and was happiest when socially engaging with friends & family.
She was predeceased in death by spouse Harold Goldman, daughter Dr. Lesley Siegel and sister Marjorie Vogelbaum.
She is survived by her son Andrew Siegel (Mary), son-in-law Dr. Lawrence Levenson; grandchildren Rachel Levenson, Dr. Jeremy Levenson (Sucharita Kanjilal), Jane Siegel Richards (David), Emily Siegel (Joshua Osborne) and great granddaughter, Tegan Richards.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 21 at 11:00 am at Beth Israel Cemetery in Woodbridge, NJ. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Goldstein’s Funeral Chapel in Edison, NJ.

Open Table is a regional food relief organization based in Maynard & Concord, MA. Helene’s daughter-in-law Mary Siegel serves as President of their Board of Directors. Make the Road New Jersey, based in Elizabeth, supports immigrant, working-class & Latinx communities. Helene’s granddaughter Rachel Levenson is an immigration attorney for Make the Road.
