Shirley (Nickie) Wolff
August 12, 1929 - June 12, 2022
Artist, Philanthropist, Successful Business Woman, Beloved Mother, Shirley Wolff of Metuchen, N.J., died June 12, 2022. Born and raised in Philadelphia, lived in and loved New York City, married the late L Richard Wolff December 21, 1963 and settled in Metuchen in 1964.
Nicole or Nickie to her friends, she was an accomplished artist working in oils, pastels, and watercolors, and even pencil on scrap paper, often sketching anyone sitting nearby. She attended the Tyler School of Fine Art at Temple University.
She worked as a Confidential Executive Secretary before marrying, then later helped build a successful sportswear business with her husband, Richard and partners.
She was a founding member and builder of Temple Emanu-El of Edison, deeply involved in the Jewish Federation of Middlesex County, a Lion of Judah, participated in the PTO, and co-leader of a Brownie Troupe.
She loved golf, tennis, and bowling, held subscriptions to the Met, New York Symphony, George Street Playhouse and Roundabout Theater. She was a true lover and patron of the arts, and remained a competitive Duplicate Bridge player to the end.
She is survived by her three daughters, Jamie Wolff, Lisa Hyman, and Cynthia Wolff, and her son, Adam Wolff, and six grandchildren.
Services were held on June 15th at Beth Israel Cemetery. Gifts can be made to the Richard and Nicole Wolff Philanthropic Fund at the Jewish Federation in the Heart of New Jersey or to National Planned Parenthood.
