Stephen J. Markbreiter, 83, of Edison, New Jersey, passed away at his home on Friday, April 3rd, 2020, after a long illness. He was born in Bronx, New York on April 13, 1936. Stephen graduated from Theodore Roosevelt High School at age 16 and went on to receive a degree in Chemical Engineering from City College of New York in 1957. Stephen went on to have an illustrious career as a Chemical Engineer, he held many proprietary Patents, was on the cutting edge of environmental technology and was awarded Inventor of The Year for his work in the energy sector. Stephen was a huge sports fan who enjoyed watching the Mets, Jets and Knicks and will be remembered for his tremendous intellect and his tremendous sense of humor.
Stephen is survived by Audrey Markbreiter, his loving wife of over 60 years, children Lance (Cheryl) Markbreiter and Shari (Steven) Wayne and grandchildren Sydney & Carly Markbreiter and Nathaniel & Tessa Wayne. He was also the younger brother of the late David Markbreiter. He will be remembered as a kind and devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
There was a graveside funeral at Beth Israel Cemetery on April 5th for immediate family. Virtual minyanim took place April 5 – April 7.
