Obituary of Jonas Cohen

Please share a memory of Jonas to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Born on September 29, 1929 in Bronx, NY to Samuel and Helen Cohen, Jonas grew up in Williamsburg, Brooklyn with his two beloved brothers, Albert and Sidney and fond memories of summers on his cousins’ farm in Syracuse, NY.

He graduated from City College in NY and served in The Korean War as a radar specialist which led to his upward career trajectory in the private sector as an engineer with Fairchild in MD, then Ford Instruments in NY. He continued his career for the next 30 years at RCA and GE Aerospace division. His role as a senior contract negotiator took him all over the world and to numerous visits to his favorite of all locations, Tokyo, Japan.

Jonas (known to most as Jerry) married Sandra in 1956. They recently celebrated their 63-year wedding anniversary together! They raised their three children, Lee, Sharon and Steven in Lawrenceville, NJ. In retirement, they moved to South Jersey, to be closer to the beach which they loved to visit and walk near often. He adored his grandchildren, Zachary, Ally, Jaimie and Renee, and will be deeply missed and cherished by all who knew and loved him.
