Obituary of ELINOR GOLDMAN
Elinor K. Goldman, 89, passed away on Nov. 19, 2018 in her home at the Lantern Hill Retirement Community, New Providence, NJ, with her children by her side.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Nov. 23, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Congregation Beth Israel, 18 Shalom Way, Scotch Plains, NJ. Interment will follow at Beth Israel Cemetery in Woodbridge, NJ. Arrangements are being handled by Goldstein Funeral Chapel, Inc., Edison, NJ.
Mrs. Goldman was born in Brooklyn, NY. She was raised in Brooklyn and Fall River, MA. Elinor is a 1950 graduate on New York University with a degree in psychology and sociology.
Elinor lived in Woodbridge, Scotch Plains and Edison, NJ before moving to New Providence in 2016. Professionally, she was a Field Director for the Girl Scouts of America in Brooklyn and Linden, NJ as well as the Adult Education Director at the former YM-YWHA in Plainfield, NJ
Mrs. Goldman was a member of the Board of Directors at Jewish Family Service of Central New Jersey for over 30 years. She served on the Nominating, Personnel, Long-Term Planning and Homecare Services Committees. Elinor also served on the Board of Directors at Congregation Beth Israel as Chair of the Youth Commission and a member of the Education Committee.
Elinor and her husband were members of the Raritan Yacht Club for over 50 years and lovers of both opera and classical music.
Mrs, Goldman was predeceased by her husband Leonard. She is survived by her son Eric and wife Susan of Metuchen, NJ, her son Kenneth of Hoboken, NJ and her daughter Linda of Los Angeles, CA. She also leaves behind grandchildren David and Rhyan.
