She was an award winning teacher for over 25 years and earned the NJ Governor's award for teaching, and was named in Who's Who of American Teachers.
Sheila studied music and education at Hofstra University. A skilled opera singer, Sheila was called upon often to perform in many community theater productions throughout the years.
A leader in several organizations, Sheila was the founder and president of the Canal Walk chapter of Hadassah, where she also served as Israel Education Vice President. Sheila ran a Jewish film club, and was a mentor for pregnant teens in central New Jersey, assisting them with life skills in the home. She was a long-time member of Temple Beth El in Somerset and served multiple terms on the synagogue board.
Sheila is survived by her children, Michael (Roslyn) Beberman, Beth (Chris) Giffin, Tracie (Michael) Bernstein, and ten grandchildren: Jessica, Sarah, Ayelet, Jonah, Evelyn, Yaron, Sydney, Joshua, Liana and Isaac.

Funeral services will be held at noon on Tuesday, October 9th at Temple Beth El in Somerset, NJ. Interment will follow at Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge, NJ. Funeral services are being handled by Goldstein Funeral Chapel, Edison, NJ.
