Obituary of Trudi Rossi
Gertrude (Trudi) Rossi, age 90, passed peacefully on July 29, 2018, in Pompano Beach, FL. She was born in Newark, NJ on August 17, 1927. After graduating from the Juilliard School of Music in New York and then studying at the Conservatory of St. Cecilia in Rome, Italy, Trudi began her singing career.
In Italy, she sang in numerous Concerti da Camera, for the Italian Radio Station RAI and was employed by MGM films for dubbing sound tracks. In addition to Italian, French, English and German art songs, her extensive opera repertoire included the roles of Mimi, Musetta, Violetta, Cio-Cio-Sam, Gretel, Manon, Nedda, Marguerite, Pamina and Micaela, as well as a number of solo parts in several standard oratorios.
Trudi operated a successful travel agency in Manhattan, before moving to Florida in 1972. She started teaching opera classes at the Mae Volen Senior Center and also organized bus trips for her students to attend local operas. She taught voice and piano in her home studio until recently.
Trudi was also known as a gifted astrologer. She began her study with the famous New York astrologer, Zoltan Mason and after 10 years, began charting professionally. She has appeared on radio, lectured on astrology at Brandeis University, FAU and even had her own astrological column in a Boca Raton newspaper.
Over the years, she guided and consulted with hundreds of astrology clients in the U.S. and other countries. She helped many people find a focus in life, a direction and inner peace.
Trudi is survived by her nephew, Dr. Armand (Terry) Rossi of Inman, SC and her niece, Dr. Paula (Michael) Hedglon of Pompano Beach, FL. She will be missed by a large circle of friends.
There will be no viewing or visitation. Instead a requiem mass will be celebrated on Saturday, August 18, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Coleman Catholic Church, 1200 S Federal Hwy, Pompano Beach, FL 33062.
