Obituary of ARNOLD YOUNG

Dan Cohen Arnold Young, 87, beloved husband for 59 years of Myrna (Berger) Young, of Clark, NJ, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2018 surrounded by his loving wife, children and grandchildren. Arny was born in Brooklyn, NY on September 10, 1930, where he began a lifelong journey characterized by love of his country; devotion to his family and friends; and passionate commitment to his Jewish heritage and values. Shaped by his parents Max and Sarah Young, Arny’s work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit commenced as a young boy and lasted through his entire life He served his country proudly as a U.S. Marine during the Korean War. Upon his Honorable Discharge in 1954, Arny opened A&M Industrial Supply which gradually expanded over sixty-four years from a Newark, NJ hardware store to a national leader in the delivery of diversified products, services, safety and business solutions. Arny and Myrna were members of Temple Beth O’r in Clark and made this congregation their spiritual home together for more than fifty years. He played numerous leadership roles at Temple Beth O’r, including serving as President, Head of the Ritual Committee, and contributing substantially to the fund needed to build and sustain the temple. Arny invested his time, energy and resources into causes of justice, freedom and compassion; and he fought racism and discrimination fiercely wherever he encountered them. Arny proudly championed the State of Israel, making many trips and missions there and he worked tirelessly for its advancement from strength to strength. Arny is survived by his wife Myrna, his children David & Monica Young of Aberdeen, NJ; Mindy and Dan Cohen of Monroe Township; Alise & Ken Panitch of Cherry Hill; and his eight grandchildren Rebecca, Josh, Jessica and Serena Young and Eliana, Daniella, Jordan and Yoni Panitch. For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, the family has suggested that donations be made to the American Cancer Society; Temple Beth O’r of Clark, NJ; or the Make a Wish Foundation. The family will be observing Shiva at their home in Clark through the evening of Wednesday, May 16.
