Obituary of Carmella Joan (Giordano) Crane

Carmella Joan (Giordano) Crane, 75 of Union passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family on Sunday August 28, 2016. Carmella was born in Orange, New Jersey and was a long-time resident until moving to Union in 1983. Known as Mella to everyone, she was a nurse's assistant for over 50 years, first working in St. Mary's Hospital in Orange for many years until it's closing and then working in Union Hospital in Union until her retirement 10 years ago. Mella also worked in the Infirmary of the Dominican Nuns of the Rosary in Summit, caring for the aged and ill sisters. Mella received many awards for nursing including the Humanitarian Award for patient care. Mella's family was everything to her especially her 5 grandchildren, her happiest times were when she was surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Predeceased by her parents Adam and Antoinette Giordano and her beloved husband William L. Crane in 2002. She is survived by her 4 loving and devoted children. Susan, and her wife Sue of Union, William L Jr. and his Wife, Maria of Whippany, Patricia, whom she lived with and was her caregiver of Union, and Anthony and his wife Jennifer of Kenilworth. She is also survived by her loving brother, Louis Giordano and sister in law MaryAnn of Watchung. The five loves of her life, her grandchildren, Gina Stanley, Brianna Crane, Jake Crane, Julia Crane, and Noelle Crane. She also is survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins and her best friend Agnes Kanaley of 70 years. She is also survived by her fur baby and companion Holly. In Lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Judes Children's Hospital in Carmella's honor. At Carmella's request, all services are private.
