Obituary of AMANDA CHERNACK
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved, Amanda, who left us at the young age of 37 after a courageous battle with Metastatic Breast cancer. Amanda was born on September 5, 1987 to William and Joanne Chernack and grew up with a heart full of energy, love, and dedication to those around her.
From a young age, she radiated a “big sister” energy, always ready to lead with strength, kindness, and a sense of humor that could light up any room. Growing up in Mt.Olive, she was deeply involved in sports, earning her varsity letter in softball, where she developed the work ethic and competitive spirit that would define her adult life. Her passion for sports led her to pursue a degree from Kean University in Health and Physical Education, where she found her true calling as an educator and coach.
For years, Amanda worked at Plainfield middle school and high school, where she became a role model and mentor to countless students. She coached multiple sports teams, always leading by example and fostering a sense of teamwork, determination, and respect. Her impact on the kids at the school was immeasurable, and she was loved and admired by all who knew her.
Outside of her professional life, Amanda had a vibrant spirit and an adventurous side that she shared with those around her. She loved nothing more than escaping to the beach whenever she could, soaking up the sun and collecting shells as a way to connect to the ocean. Amanda was a member of several Jeep clubs, often traveling to events with friends and fellow enthusiasts. She enjoyed keeping up with the NFL and cheering for the Giants. Whether it was a family dinner, bingo night, breakfast club or a casual gathering at a local brewery, she loved bringing people together. Her infectious laughter, radiant smile, and fun-loving personality made her the life of any gathering.
Throughout her battle with cancer, Amanda showed incredible strength, grace, and resilience, inspiring everyone who followed her journey. Her courage was unmatched, and she became a source of hope and motivation for many. She leaves behind a legacy of love, determination, and the importance of living life to the fullest.
Amanda is survived by her: beloved dog Duke, parents William and Joanne, sisters Alyssa and Amy, brother-in-law Keith, niece Sedona and nephews Silas and Sawyer, as well as uncle, aunt, cousins, and a wide circle of friends who were lucky to have known her.
She will be deeply missed, but her light will continue to shine through the memories she leaves behind. A gathering to honor Amanda will be held at Goldstein’s Funeral Chapel on Sunday, February 9th, from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM. The service will follow from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a private graveside service for immediate family at 12:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to Sister2Sister Supporting Minority and Underserved Breast Cancer.
