Obituary of DIANE YOHAY

Diane (Spiwak) Yohay passed away peacefully at her home in Brighton Gardens Assisted Living in Edison, New Jersey. She was 90 years old. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Diane lived with her parents and big sister Naomi. After graduating from James Madison High School, Diane earned a secretarial certificate and worked for a Japanese import-export company in Manhattan. She loved the excitement of Broadway, Radio City Music Hall, and shopping on 5th Avenue. She frequently went out with friends to the Paramount Theater, Brighton Beach, The Copacabana, “The Elegante” Dance Hall, and to Ebbets Field to root for her favorite team the “Brooklyn Dodgers.” She and her husband of 33 years, David, lived in the Kendall Park section of South Brunswick, NJ.. They were members of Beth Shalom synagogue, now B’Nai Tikvah, in North Brunswick. The couple enjoyed Atlantic City, the Jersey Shore, and spent summers with their children and many friends at the Willows Swim Club in Kendall Park, where Diane was a Board member and tennis player. She was a regular volunteer in her children’s schools and Scout troops. Diane worked as an Executive Secretary for Rhone-Poulenc, a French chemical and pharmaceutical company, for nearly 20 years. After David’s passing, she later retired to Delray Beach, Florida where she enjoyed her golden years with her companion, Jerome Asch. She settled back to New Jersey in 2019. Diane was patriotic, loved to dance, and enjoyed traveling, crocheting, playing Mah Jongg, Bingo, card games, an avid reader and a member of the Red Hat Society. Diane is survived by a son, Ives Steven Yohay, and his wife Linda Yohay of East Stroudsburg, PA; two daughters, Ilise Rhonda Welter and her husband Rob Welter of Torrance, CA and Barbara Ann Grossmann and her husband Brett Grossmann of Metuchen, NJ. She had 8 grandchildren: Eric Yohay, Steven Yohay and wife Rosario, Matthew Yohay, Robert Welter, Samaya Welter, Dustin Grossmann, Cole Grossmann and Jesse Grossmann; and 2 Great-Grandchildren: Vanya Yohay and Rachel Yohay. A private visitation occurred at Goldstein Funeral Chapel on Thursday, March 26, 2020 followed by graveside services and interment at Washington Cemetery in Monmouth Junction, N.J..
